His work focuses on environmentally sensitive waterborne and zoonotic illnesses, especially in the context of neglected tropical diseases. He specialises in geomatics, geospatial modelling, and environmental data analysis, linking climate variability and catchment-scale water systems to disease risk. She leads the Infectious Diseases, Immunisation and Emergencies (IDIE) group at the Sydney Infectious Diseases Institute and the Sydney School of Public Health. Her research interests include emerging and vaccine-preventable diseases and strengthening prevention, detection and response to epidemic-prone diseases.&nbsp;With almost 20 years of global public health experience, Meru has extensive field experience across multiple settings in the Asia-Pacific region. She has responded to international emergencies in Fiji, Dominica, the Rohingya crisis in Cox&#8217;s Bazar, Bangladesh, Tonga, and Papua New Guinea. A graduate of the European Programme for Intervention Epidemiology Training (EPIET), he has extensive experience with the World Health Organization, the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control, and M\u00e9decins Sans Fronti\u00e8res, including field missions in Africa.
